Fire & Rice Prepares for Hurricane Milton: Community Resilience in ActionAs Hurricane Milton approaches the west coast of Florida, Fire & Rice in Naples, FL, is taking essential steps to ensure the safety of our operations, our team, and the community we cherish. We are committed to being prepared for the storm while maintaining a focus on community support and future resilience. Here’s how we’re getting ready.

1. Relocation of Movable AssetsIn anticipation of the hurricane, our team is meticulously relocating all movable assets to secure locations. This includes equipment, supplies, and any outdoor furnishings that could be damaged by high winds or flooding. By moving these items indoors or to elevated areas, the team is doing everything possible to protect our valuable resources and ensure we can quickly resume operations after the storm.

2. Tidal Surge PreparationsWith the threat of tidal surges and possible flooding, we are taking extra precautions. We're closely monitoring local forecasts and preparing to implement our flood response plan. This includes sandbagging vulnerable areas and ensuring that critical equipment is raised above potential flood levels. Safety is paramount, and our team is committed to safeguarding both our facility and our team members.

3. Reviewing and Updating Offsite Data StorageIn today’s digital age, protecting data is crucial. We are reviewing and updating our offsite data storage protocols to ensure that all critical business information—such as customer orders, inventory, accounting, and insurance information, —is secure and accessible. By backing up our data to multiple offsite data storage areas, we can minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth recovery process post-storm.

4. Activating a Post-Storm Recovery PlanFire & Rice has a robust post-storm recovery plan in place. Once it’s safe to do so, Our team will conduct a thorough assessment of our facilities and equipment. We have identified key staff members to lead the recovery efforts, ensuring a coordinated approach to getting back to normal operations as quickly as possible. This plan includes a checklists of tasks to help streamline recovery, third party contractors to assist in the recovery to help us minimize downtime.

5. Providing Food to Impacted CommunitiesUnderstanding the importance of community support, We are committed to providing food to those impacted by Hurricane Milton. Once the storm has passed, we plan to mobilize resources to cook & serve communities and families in need. We believe in the power of food to bring comfort and connection during challenging times, and we're ready to lend a helping hand.

6. After-Action Planning for Future ReadinessAfter the storm, we will conduct an after-action review to evaluate our response and identify areas for improvement. This reflective process will allow us to analyze what worked well and what could be enhanced for future events. By learning from our experiences, we aim to strengthen our readiness and resilience against any storms that may come our way.

As Hurricane Milton approaches, the Fire & Rice team is demonstrating remarkable preparedness and community spirit. By taking proactive measures, we're not only safeguarding our operations but also reinforcing our commitment to supporting the Naples community. Together, we’ll weather the storm and emerge stronger, Stay safe, Florida!
